La Paz .- Un sismo de magnitud 5,2 sacudió Puerto Rico este miércoles. La isla ha sido sacudida constantemente por sismos desde diciembre.
El sismo fue a 5 kilómetros al este sudoeste de Guánica y a 5,0 kilómetros de profundidad.
Este sábado la isla se estremeció con un sismo magnitud 5,9 cuando aún se estaba recuperando de una semana de temblores y réplicas.
De acuerdo con el Servicio Geológico de Estados Unidos este sismo aumentó en un 12% las probabilidades de que se produzca una réplica de magnitud 6, así mismo aumentó en un 4% las probabilidades que se produzcan réplicas superiores a 6,4.
El Servicio de Operaciones de Emergencia de California informó que la destrucción en Puerto Rico es severa y generalizada y que este estado cuenta con el personal de gestión de emergencias más talentoso y experimentado del mundo.
La gobernadora de la isla, Wanda Vazquez, firmó una declaración de desastre mayor y solicitó ayuda al Gobierno Federal adicional para las áreas más golpeadas, y ha informado que los daños alcanzarían los 110 millones de dólares.
