Estados Unidos .- El presidente Donald Trump superó, este martes, la cantidad de delegados que se requieren para ser el candidato presidencial del Partido Republicano, esto durante las primarias republicanas de Illinois y Florida.
La victoria de Trump se esperaba. Al ganar Florida, el número de delegados que el mandatario tiene es de mil 330; el umbral requerido es mil 276, reportó The Hill.
Solo el exgobernador de Massaschusetts, William Weld, desafiaba a Trump en las primarias republicanas, celebradas de manera paralela a las demócratas.
Por su parte, Joe Biden, quien lidera las primarias del Partido Demócrata, no ha logrado la cantidad de delegados requeridos para obtener la nominación presidencial de su partido.
El jefe de campaña de Donald Trump, Brad Parscale, señaló en comunicado que “el Partido Republicano está más unificado y lleno de energía que nunca antes, y se debe al liderazgo del presidente Trump y su claro historial de logros en nombre de todos los estadounidenses”.
El documento indica que los votos obtenidos por Trump en las primarias suman cuatro millones y superan el récord del expresidente Bill Clinton; hasta el momento, Trump no ha dado declaraciones.
